Sports photography was something that came somewhat naturally for me. I was fortunate to work for a small (by California standards) daily newspaper early in my career – the Escondido Times Advocate. It’s long gone now, and was my earliest taste of bad and unethical management in my profession. I did a lot, and learned a lot though. Basically, I did the work most of the other photographers didn’t want to do. That included spending a lot of nights shooting professional sports in San Diego, California.
