I just completed a photo shoot and manuscript for Lone Star Outdoor News, and it’s about all the different fly tying events that happen, almost every week, all across Texas. The editor at Lone Star Outdoor News gave me the green light, which can be a difficult thing for him, because when I write these things … well, they tend to go long.

New photography projects are coming from all directions and in all flavors these days.
Stay tuned for a snippet of a new video project about a local artisan. Stay tuned for a comprehensive editorial project expected to last several years, and a third project that is completely off the wall in every way.
The most interesting and commercial project comes attached to a UNT Ad Design student who did a fantastic job on her concept and getting everything lined up as far as the three photo shoots on three locations in the Denton, Texas, area.
I will wait for the final product to show you how the photography and typography turned out … I bet it will be great.

Whether times are good or bad, it’s always good to get out and work on projects that keep the juices flowing. I’ve been writing about the water situation in Texas for more than a year now, on another website, but with the continuing drought, I decided it is time to actually get moving on this visually.

A project that burns constantly in my awareness is finally moving more front-and-center, as Texas embarks on its third year of drought. Read more…
One in a series of Airstream photographs taken last weekend here in North Texas. The LBJ Grasslands was the site for a large gathering of Airstream Trailers, and their owners last weekend, and the images were an experiment in seeing just how far I could push some functions of my camera shooting at night.

I am headed for Houston, Texas, later this week to do some more photography for Texas CEO Magazine. This Thursday evening finds me in one of the Federal buildings in Houston.
Then, it’s back to Edom, Texas, for some leisurely work for Cimarrona. Never a dull moment!
I am still making progress on the redesign of this site, and hope you will keep your eyes open for new photography that appears here every week. I am dragging content, that’s been holding for the new site, from every crevice, and it should appear in a post just before it goes live on the site.

There never has been much going on summers in Denton, Texas. In fact they roll up the streets and turn the traffic lights to permanent blink – at least some of them … they used to anyway.
It is an obvious opportunity to get caught up on all the dozens of photography assignments that came through in May and June, and start to think about changing this site’s look, and publish a few posts on the photography that’s happening now.
Here’s a recent image of writer and photographer Scott Sommerlatte, done in Port O’Connor, Texas, editorial photography for the website www.texasflycaster.com. Scott’s a lot nicer than he looks here – I just liked the image composition and light balance.
